Informed Choices

Imported,Sustainable,Local or Australian Gift-ware & Gift-wrapping

About a Year ago I wanted to reduce the waste, energy and consumption of my business, so I decided to add giftware that was on the ground locally or Australian made. First of I started collecting, wonderful decorative vessels that could be re-purposed as gifts, packaging or wrapping such as,chocolate boxes and soap boxes, with ghost perfumes of the past, biscuit tines and woven baskets,up-cycled fabric for japanese Furoshiki gift-wrapping which can double as a hand towel, head scarf or tea towel. The choice to reuse gift-wrapping is a commitment. These projects call for a bit of elbow grease as it is, not to mention the time and effort of salvaging the material. Beautiful and perfectly reusable paper and ribbons. It is a challenge and challenges are fun! But most importantly, you'll have the piece-of-mind in knowing yout choice is the right thing.

Next I sourced proudly Australian made products. Then I dabbled in antiquity Gifts, from church fates to op shops, on holiday and in my travels these gifts are chosen for the quality, chiasma, purpose or past. Beautiful presented and given a second life, through you …

And organically my waste of bubble wrap, polyester foam, cardboard, plastic and pollutions reduced across our blue ocean. My waste is reduced dramatically.

Then added Benefical Gardens Natrual gift-ware to encourage green space a step further by suppling potted gifts that produce pollen, seed or nectar for native wildlife, or fruits or herbs for the home. Small Trees to cool, shade and increase property value. By applying my background of garden design.

Through our Choices in life.

What is WA Global warming ?

Perth population is only 1.985 million.

Over 50% of Perth’s drinking water comes from the desalination plants from the Ocean and every day a massive amount of Perth’s sewage, filleted toilet water is being pumped back into underground aquifers to keep our swamps, lakes and rivers alive and not turn into basins of cracked mud, last year my local Beenyup Wastewater Treatment Plant in Criaige pumped 29 billions litres of sewage water just to cope with lack of water under our feet. Our aquifers cannot keep up with the amount of wasted water of hundred of thousands of hungry lawns and landscapes that need to be drip feed all through summer, couple this with the reality that our winter are warming and our precious rain fall is reducing. From April to October precious rainfall has decreased which has become a real concern in townships like Denmark which is now being supplied water through a pipeline form Albany to Denmark. Down south has notice a real change in less rainfall for native bush-land, fauna and country of the southwest of Western Australia.

Perth’s Urban development is increasing at a great speed, cutting down every tree on private blocks to build & cement.

Native green space and trees stabilise and cool suburban system, provide our only oxygen, habitat for birds, butterflies and bees to pollinate, attract moisture and rain and softening the harshness of a city.

Across Australia’s abnormal weather patterns and extended extreme fire season out of season flowering fruit, larger pest problems and lack of rain.

with the constant burning of energy, pollution, production and waste.

Australia's climate has warmed just over 1°C since 1910.

Oceans around Australia have warmed by around 1°C since 1910.

Sea levels are rising around Australia, increasing the risk of erosion.

Food and water security is at a serious risk.

Motivated by greed and using every inch of land, developer’s rip up and destroy trees, top soil, habitat and fungi the only ecosystem that sustains the human population and allow us to breath, have moisture, drink and harvest water. Only to leave us with concert, steel, glass, plastic lawn a cactus and two well placed rocks, for our future.

Waste, my weekly visit to Tamala park tip to dispose of bubble wrap, boxes, polyester foam, sticky tape. I would attempt to recycle what I could such as cardboard and some polyester. But a large remainder of the waste would be buried under the earth.

Looking past the cyclone fence to the massive wastelands of floating and rolling waste I would cringe, and think there has to be a better way of reducing this human mess ?
